Dr. Laura Day Kane

Director

Laura Day Kane is a director in Brailsford & Dunlavey’ s Midwest region, providing planning and advisory services to colleges, universities, and other mission-driven organizations. Her work spans strategic facility planning, organizational and governance assessments, housing and campus life planning, and institutional rightsizing. Laura brings an enterprise perspective to planning, helping clients align physical assets, operations, governance, and the user experience with long-term organizational priorities. She is known for building stakeholder consensus, translating complex challenges into actionable strategies, and developing practical roadmaps that position organizations for long-term success.

Prior to joining B&D, Laura spent 15 years in higher education administration, serving in leadership roles across student affairs, residential life, student engagement, and institutional governance. Most recently, she served as dean of Student Affairs at Kenyon College, where she led institution-wide initiatives focused on governance, strategic planning, policy development, and organizational effectiveness while overseeing housing and residential life, student engagement, student government, the first-year experience, and student conduct.

Laura earned both a doctorate and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Kent State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baldwin Wallace University.
